Living History Volunteers

Bringing Texas military history to life through authentic reenactment and education.

Living history volunteers are a special group of dedicated men and women who honor the service and sacrifice of Texas soldiers by portraying them authentically — through period-correct uniforms, equipment, and personal accounts. Their work educates and inspires the public in ways that static displays simply cannot.

What Living History Volunteers Do

Living history volunteers participate in museum events, community outreach, school programs, and special demonstrations. They portray soldiers, nurses, support personnel, and civilians from eras ranging from the Spanish-American War through Operation Desert Storm.

Accuracy & Authenticity

Volunteers are committed to historical accuracy. This includes researching the units and individuals they portray, acquiring period-appropriate uniforms and equipment, and staying current with historical scholarship related to their era of focus.
